Renting a UHaul – Are you Covered?
The answer is it really depends. Every insurance company/carrier differs in how they may extend coverage for vehicles like this from your policy. As one of my other customers just learned the week prior to this incident, his insurance company does NOT extend coverage to any cargo vehicle where the cab and cargo space are separated, regardless of Gross Vehicle Weight. I learned something new that day, as I’m sure our customer did too.
I know most consumers don’t read the fine print contained in their declarations, I haven’t even read mine all the way.
So, please the best advice I can give each and every person no matter what state you are in, no matter what insurance company you have, call your agent or the carrier directly and ask specifics BEFORE YOU RENT A CARGO TRUCK.
